How funds may be used

To give potential donors an idea of how funds and donations may be used by Local Ocean Conservation or the African Billfish Foundation, below are some typical examples of how funding and contributions are utilised.

  • £10 pays for Local Ocean Conservation or African Billfish Foundation to visit a school to teach about the marine environment
  • £30 pays for a group of students to be brought to LOC and learn about the marine environment
  • £50 pays for a group of students to go on a field excursion

Laptops are always very useful, with growing teams sharing the few computers available, and numerous temporary volunteers, additional laptops allow for more research, data entry, education and more. New, second-hand, and refurbished laptops are very gratefully received.

LOC and ABF use water/shock/dust proof cameras, such as Nikon AW130, since they last much longer in field conditions. These waterproof and robust digital cameras assist greatly in research and education.

Thanks for reading, any donations, no matter how much, do make a difference, as does spreading the word and raising awareness about marine conservation, and educating the new generations about the marine environment.
